So you might have a burning desire to start your own business and finally live life on your own terms.
BUT you have no idea what that business could be, or what skills you might have which could help people.
You might be telling yourself, “who would buy from me? I’m not an expert”.
But I want to ask you, what is an expert really?
Maybe in your mind you see an expert as someone who has years of experience in their field, or a long list of degrees and qualifications.
Well I want to dispel that myth right now. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, an ‘expert’ is someone ‘having, involving, or displaying special skill or knowledge derived from training or experience’.
Expertise is relative. You don’t need a PHD to help people, you just need to be a few steps ahead. If you’ve reached stage 5 along the journey towards a particular goal, then there will be plenty of people at stages 1-4 who need your help.
So ask yourself these questions:
Is there a problem that you have encountered in your own life, that you could create a solution for?
Is there something that people always come to you for advice for, either at work or amongst friends/family?
Is there something you find easy and love to do, that the people would willingly pay to have done for them? Could you build a service or offering around that?
And lastly, don’t worry that your ideas aren’t original enough. These days it’s very likely that what you’re thinking of offering has been done before.
The key is to deliver it in a way that is unique to you. No-one else will be able to do it the way you do it.
So start to believe that you can help people with what you already know. They are waiting to hear from you!
I’ll talk to you soon,
